Excelsior Standards

Excelsior Standards is a selective hobby breeder, dedicated to improving Standard Poodles while providing furry additions to your home. We believe Standard Poodles not only make the perfect hypoallergenic family pet, but also offer the best disposition for service and therapy dogs. The name Excelsior means "silver lining" and for us, the silver lining in every litter happens when we get to donate a puppy (or two) to be trained as a service or therapy dog. We are so excited to be a part of giving back to those who need the help!

The AKC describes Standard Poodles as "Poodles are eager, athletic, and wickedly smart dogs of remarkable versatility. The Standard, with his greater size and strength, is the best all-around athlete of the family".

Raising well rounded Standard Poodles is important. This is an intelligent high energy breed that needs to be consistently mentally stimulated. This is why all of our dogs are exercised, worked, and are constantly learning new things. Being socialized well with people is also an important component of raising our poodles. Our dogs are continually meeting new people and are great with everyone that comes into our home.

Here at Excelsior Standards, we believe that in order for breeders to be ethical they must be willing to breed for the sole betterment of the breed. This is why we health test all of our dogs and puppies to weed out any traits that could cause any negative impact on the future of the Standard Poodle bloodline.

We love our dogs and this breed dearly, and we ensure that the families who welcome one of our puppies into their home are well prepared with resources to better care for their new furry family member.
